Job summary

Amazon Leo is building a novel global telecom infrastructure by integrating space and terrestrial networks. The Principal Engineer leads observability architecture across the Leo network, shaping the technology and engineering culture.

You will define scalable, real-time telemetry pipelines, drive cross-team alignment, and mentor engineers to raise the bar for reliability and performance at planetary scale.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of engineering experience.
  • Experience partnering with product and program management teams.
  • Experience developing and executing a software roadmap.
  • Deep hands-on technical expertise in software design and development.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Java, C++, Rust, or similar systems programming languages.

Responsibilities

  • Technical Vision & Architecture: Define long-term vision and architectural strategy for network observability across Leo's infrastructure.
  • Cross-Functional System Design: Architect end-to-end solutions spanning multiple teams and services, aligning data models and APIs.
  • Technical Leadership & Force Multiplication: Lead on demanding cross-functional problems and mentor engineers to raise capabilities.
  • Engineering Excellence: Define best practices for SDLC, drive quality metrics and operational excellence.
