Job summary

Brown University is seeking a Lead Network Engineer to plan, design, and implement all university network services, including wired, wireless, data center networks, and internet connectivity. The role leads restoration efforts, manages on-call rotations, and collaborates with multiple teams to develop technology roadmaps.

The position requires experience with designing complex networks, wireless systems, and scripting with Python/Ansible/Perl, along with strong PM and communication skills.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience designing, supporting, and maintaining complex enterprise networks.
• Minimum 5 years focused on wireless networks design, support, and troubleshooting.
• Experience with network-focused programming and scripting tools/languages such as Python, Ansible, and Perl.
• Strong project management and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Plan, design, and implement all network-related services for Brown University.
• Maintain and support wired, wireless, data center networks, internet and cloud connectivity.
• Lead service restoration efforts and manage on-call rotations; perform after-hours changes as needed.
• Develop project proposals, plans, and technology roadmaps; communicate with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Mentor junior staff and represent the network team across the organization.
