Job summary

Primis is seeking an experienced Network Engineer to lead a cross-functional internal platform. You will guide data center, cloud networking, and security across on-prem and cloud services, owning architectural decisions and APIs.

The role requires an AI-first mindset and hands-on coding using scripting and modern tooling. You will drive architecture reviews, RFCs, and post-incident analyses, collaborating with software teams and stakeholders to ensure scalable, compliant networks and platforms

Job description

Are you an experienced Network Engineer looking for an exciting new opportunity to work across an internal platform? The platform exists to provide space for the software engineering teams to build and run on. Network Engineers work across the 3 layers.

It is a mix of Data Centre, Cloud Networking, Routing, Firewalls, Load Balancing and Private Connectivity across On-Prem and Cloud services.

You will be the senior technical lead across the platform, helping to shape the architecture and standards for the teams to build on. Bringing experience as a lead Network Engineer you'll be able to spot architectural patterns and gaps early and deliver them as APIs.

You'll be coding and using AI Assisted engineering with agentic tools such as Claude, and must have an AI first mindset.

• Routing & Switching: BGP, OSPF, VLAN, VXLAN/EVPN, QoS, L2 - L7 protocols
• Experience running networks in AWS, Azure, OCI or GCP
• Working on firewall policy for highly regulated environments (eg PCI DSS or Sox)
• IaC with Terraform/Ansible
• Coding experience python/bash/powershell or similar
• AI assisted engineer experience with Claude, Codex or Cursor
• MCP connecting AI Agents
• Experience with writing architectural documents, RFCs and post incident reviews
• Ability to discuss with technical & non-technical audiences
