Job summary

Eliassen Group is seeking a Lead .NET Developer to drive a large-scale modernization initiative, replacing legacy mainframe applications with modern .NET services and APIs. This is a hands-on technical leadership role focused on backend development and setting architectural direction. You will guide transitions to event-driven architectures, design scalable services, and mentor engineers.

The role is remote with contract-to-hire terms and a W2 hourly rate. Candidates located in the U.S.

We’re looking for a Lead .NET Developer to help drive a large-scale modernization initiative replacing legacy mainframe applications with modern .NET services and APIs.

This is a hands‑on technical leadership role for someone who can lead backend development, influence solution design, and help guide the transition of critical enterprise applications to modern, event‑driven architectures.

Rate: $70.00 to $78.00/hr. w2

• Lead the design and development of backend services and REST APIs using .NET/C#

• Help drive the modernization of legacy mainframe applications into modern .NET services

• Translate existing mainframe business logic into scalable, maintainable solutions

• Design and build event‑driven services, consumers, and publishers

• Lead integrations across internal and third‑party enterprise platforms

• Provide technical guidance and help establish development best practices

• Partner with engineering teams on architecture, design decisions, and implementation

• Support finance, payroll, data, and other business‑critical integrations

• Mentor developers and provide technical direction throughout modernization efforts

• Strong hands‑on .NET/C# development experience

• Advanced experience building REST APIs and backend services
