Job summary

Montgomery County OIC (MontCo OIC) and ACANA seek a seasoned construction professional to serve as a Construction Trades Instructor (NCCER). This role blends hands-on training with classroom delivery to prepare trainees for NCCER credentials and careers in construction.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• NCCER Certified Instructor required.
• 3+ years of hands-on construction or skilled trades experience.
• Current NCCER credential or eligible to complete ICTP before teaching independently.
• Reliable transportation to MontCo OIC and ACANA campuses.
• Familiarity with LMS and Google Workspace.

Responsibilities

• Instruct at MontCo OIC and ACANA campuses on a rotating schedule.
• Deliver NCCER Core construction training (hands-on and classroom).
• Lead day-to-day instructional leadership for the Core program.
• Administer NCCER module tests and evaluate performance profiles.
• Maintain trainee safety and stay current on industry trends.
• Lead hands-on lab activities, demos, and skills practice.
• Apply real-world knowledge to teach industry expectations.
• Maintain NCCER testing integrity and evaluation processes.
• Enhance instructional delivery and presentation skills.
• Submit attendance, progress, tests, and documentation per NCCER standards.
• Be punctual and prepare sessions and materials in advance.
• Collaborate with Instructional Assistant on split instructional days.
• Engage with student data in the LMS.
• Use demonstrations, guided practice, and applied activities for varied learners.
• Foster an inclusive learning environment and mentor trainees toward goals.
• Support soft-skill development and outreach efforts.
• Demonstrate proficiency in LMS, Google Workspace, MS Office, internet navigation, and email.
• Demonstrate basic math proficiency relevant to construction.
• Attend mandatory professional development.
• Incorporate feedback from MontCo OIC staff.
