Job summary

British American Household Staffing is seeking a Lead Nanny/Childcare Team Lead in Chicago to oversee care for five children under five and to drive day-to-day operations of a busy household.

The role combines hands-on childcare (about 60%) with leadership, administration, and team development (about 40%). It requires excellent childcare credentials, strong communication, and the ability to implement clear systems within a trusted family setting.

Qualifications

• Extensive professional childcare experience.
• Experience leading or coordinating a childcare team.
• Experience caring for multiple young children simultaneously.
• Strong organizational and administrative abilities.
• Proven history of creating or implementing systems, SOPs, handbooks, onboarding programs, or training processes.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Experience in high-profile/private households.
• Willingness to be highly hands-on during the initial 30–90-day period.
• Ability to relocate to Chicago if needed.

Responsibilities

• Hands-on childcare: provide warm, developmentally appropriate care and manage daily routines.
• Lead and coordinate the childcare team, translate parental expectations into team guidance, and maintain clear communication with parents.
• Develop and improve household systems, SOPs, checklists, onboarding programs, and training materials.
• Demonstrate autonomous leadership within clearly established boundaries and build trust with the family.
