Job summary

Washington State Department of Corrections is seeking a Maintenance Specialist 4 at the Monroe Correctional Complex (MCC) in Monroe, WA. The role combines technical leadership across trades with supervisory responsibilities, including payroll, attendance, and budgets, while overseeing welding and grounds operations and safety programs.

The position requires a high school diploma, a valid WA driver’s license, and several years of mechanical trades experience.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
• Must have and maintain a valid Washington state driver’s license.
• Four or more years of experience as a Mechanical tradesman or Mechanical supervisor.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership and supervise work in two trades (HVAC, Plumbing, Steam, Carpentry, Mechanical, Welding, Groundskeeping, and/or Wastewater).
• Serve as lead supervisor with administration responsibilities (tracking, payroll, attendance, budgets).
• Oversee MCC Maintenance Mechanics in welding and grounds operations.
• Lead MCC Safety Programs (Fall Protection, Fire Extinguishers, Lockout/Tagout, confined space).
