Job summary

Pioneering Intelligence, a Flagship venture, is seeking a Lead to architect and steer polyintelligent AI systems for biology. You will shape biological reasoning engines, combine human expertise with machine intelligence, and drive multi-modal, multi-scale model development across portfolio contexts.

You will guide architecture, collaborate with scientists and engineers, and translate discovery needs into executable plans while advancing autonomous science within Flagship’s ecosystem.

Qualifications

• PhD, MS, or equivalent experience in computational biology, machine learning, bioengineering, computer science, systems biology, quantitative biology, translational science, or a related field.
• Experience deploying AI/ML for biology systems into scientific workflows at enterprise scale.
• Experience with LLMs, biological foundation models, protein language models, genomic foundation models, scientific agents, or AI discovery platforms.
• Working with scientists to scope high-value use cases, data assets, success criteria, and translation into technical execution plans.

Responsibilities

• Own the roadmap: lead architecture and data exploration through model readiness and benchmarking.
• Guide model design with a biological lens for MOA, target discovery, perturbation biology, and pathways.
• Translate biology into model and evaluation requirements for real scientific workflows.
• Build the engine for a novel science platform and autonomous discovery workflows.
• Source and shape portfolio use cases with Flagship teams and portfolio companies.
