Job summary

City Garden Montessori School in St. Louis seeks a Lead Guide to deliver Montessori education to a multi-age group of 3–5 year olds, incorporating ABAR pedagogy and collaborating with the principal, an assistant guide, colleagues, and families to support each child’s development.

The successful candidate will plan lessons, assess progress, uphold ABAR principles, maintain open communication with parents, supervise staff, and contribute to a safe, inclusive classroom and school community.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Teaching (or equivalent).
• Montessori certification (AMI/AMS) or DESE certification preferred.
• Experience teaching in a classroom setting, especially in urban or public school contexts.
• Strong collaboration with other teachers and leadership with assistants.
• Commitment to anti-bias, anti-racist education.

Responsibilities

• Develop lesson plans and curricula for 3–5 year olds across social, physical, intellectual, and emotional domains.
• Lead a classroom team including an Assistant Guide and support staff.
• Monitor student progress and communicate with parents regularly.
• Create an inclusive, safe, and stimulating Montessori environment; uphold ABAR principles.
• Coordinate field trips and budget classroom supplies.
