Job summary

Form Energy is building a new era of energy storage and control. The Modeling and Controls team develops models and controls for Multi-Day Energy Storage products to optimize system performance and cost.

You will lead development of these models, shaping the framework the team uses across engineering disciplines. You will work with mechanical, electrical, and firmware teams to translate system requirements into control software specifications and model details, and you may relocate to enable

Qualifications

• PhD in Engineering or MS with relevant years of experience.
• Strong background in classical control theory including feedback controllers and state observers.
• Experience delivering production-embedded code using model-based design tools.
• Experience developing and validating multi-physics reduced-order models.
• Experience with complex electromechanical systems.
• Proficiency with Matlab/Simulink/Stateflow and version control (Git).

Responsibilities

• Develop and validate physics-based dynamic models for mechanical, fluids, and thermal systems.
• Develop control algorithms to optimize performance and cost.
• Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and firmware teams to translate requirements into controls software specs.
• Lead model validation campaigns with test engineers and instrumentation.
• Drive product architecture trade studies for optimal system design.
• Travel to support controls bring-up and testing on prototype testbeds (limited).
