Job summary

Nubank is building a new generation of crypto experiences in Palo Alto. As Lead Software Engineer, you will own customer-facing mobile and full-stack crypto experiences, guiding design and delivery across mobile and backend boundaries while preserving security, correctness, and performance.

Qualifications

• Strong experience building and operating production mobile apps with API/backend collaboration.
• Proven track record leading medium-term engineering initiatives from design to production.
• Solid foundations in client architecture, state management, API contracts, testing, performance, reliability.
• Ability to simplify complex or high-stakes workflows for customers.
• Experience designing transactional or security-sensitive product features.
• Clear communication of technical decisions with product, design and engineering partners.
• Experience mentoring engineers and improving team practices.

• Mentor engineers and raise team standards for mobile architecture and ownership.

About the Role

Nu is building a new generation of crypto experiences that make sophisticated financial capabilities feel simple and trustworthy. As a Lead Software Engineer on our Palo Alto crypto team, you will build the customer-facing mobile and full-stack experiences that bring Nubank's global crypto offering to life - from the first interaction through the services that power it.

Your scope will be a meaningful product area, not a single screen or an isolated service. You will lead team-level technical design, own delivery across mobile and backend boundaries, and make the tradeoffs required to create intuitive experiences without weakening security, correctness, performance, or reliability.

You will work closely with product, design, backend and platform engineering, security, and compliance partners. This is a hands-on individual-contributor role with responsibility for mentoring engineers, improving team practices, and remaining accountable for production health after launch.

You’ll be responsible for

• Lead the design, implementation, launch, and operation of customer-facing mobile and full-stack crypto experiences.

• Own complete product flows across mobile interfaces, APIs, service integrations, data and state management, release readiness, and post-launch health.

• Translate complex concepts such as wallets, asset movement, and onchain transactions into clear, understandable customer experiences.

• Make independent team-level architecture decisions and communicate tradeoffs across usability, security, performance, reliability, and delivery speed.

• Build resilient transactional experiences with deliberate validation, error handling, recovery paths, testing, and observability.

• Coordinate dependencies with backend, platform, security, compliance, product, and design partners to move initiatives from ambiguity to production.

• Mentor engineers and raise the team's standards for mobile architecture, code quality, operational ownership, and customer-centered engineering.

We are looking for a person who has

Required

• Strong experience building and operating production mobile applications, combined with the ability to work across APIs and backend services, or equivalent full-stack depth with meaningful mobile delivery experience.

• A track record of independently leading a medium-term engineering initiative from technical design through production operation.

• Strong foundations in client architecture, state management, API contracts, testing, performance, and reliability.

• Product judgment and experience simplifying complex or high-stakes workflows for customers.

• Experience designing and operating transactional or security-sensitive product features.

• Ability to communicate technical decisions clearly and collaborate effectively with product, design, and engineering partners.

• Experience mentoring engineers and improving team-level engineering practices.

Nice to have

• Experience building crypto, wallet, digital-asset, or onchain product experiences.

• First-hand familiarity with crypto products and user journeys through professional work, building, or sustained personal use.

• Experience in fintech, payments, banking, or another regulated product environment.

• Depth in one or more native or cross-platform mobile ecosystems.

• Experience delivering products across multiple markets, platforms, or customer contexts.
