Job summary

Procore Technologies in Austin is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to lead the Mobile BFF team, shaping GraphQL services powering iOS/Android apps for construction globally. You will own architecture, mentor engineers, and drive scalable backend-for-frontend solutions.

You should have 8+ years in software engineering, strong system design, backend experience in Ruby on Rails, Node.js, or Java, and CI/CD experience in a large-scale environment.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in software engineering fundamentals including strong system design.
• Backend development experience with Ruby on Rails, Node.js, or Java; GraphQL/BFF experience is a strong plus.
• Proven technical leadership with track record as a tech lead beyond immediate team scope.
• Experience with large-scale systems, platforms, and infrastructure supporting thousands of hosts and millions of users.
• Experience building and maintaining modern CI/CD systems in a large-scale environment.

Responsibilities

• Set engineering direction and own the architecture for the GraphQL BFF services.
• Drive technical decisions and de-risk complex work within the team and across divisions.
• Establish and champion high-quality development standards for maintainability and reliability.
• Mentor engineers through code reviews and problem solving across the division.
• Optimize performance and address technical debt before it impacts customers.
