Job summary

Boston Harbor Hotel is seeking a Lead Mixologist to lead our luxury beverage program, elevate guest experience, and mentor bartenders. The role requires creative menu development, expert knowledge of spirits, wines, beers, and a commitment to exquisite service.

Responsibilities include training staff, maintaining quality, and ensuring safe, polished service while coordinating with the Restaurant Manager on beverage strategy and execution.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of three (3) years of bartending experience in luxury hotels or fine dining.
  • TIPS certification preferred.
  • Ability to design, develop, and execute seasonal cocktail menus.

Position Title: Lead Mixologist

Department: Food & Beverage

Reports to: Restaurant Manager

FLSA Designation: NON-EXEMPT

JOB SUMMARY

Boston Harbor Hotel is seeking an experienced, passionate, and innovative hospitality professional to join our Food & Beverage team as a Lead Mixologist. This leadership role is responsible for elevating guest experience through exceptional beverage service, creativity, and mentorship. The Lead Mixologist serves as a role model for the bar team by demonstrating expert knowledge of spirits, wines, beers, and cocktails while maintaining the highest luxury service standards.

In addition to providing exceptional guest service, the Lead Mixologist will oversee the execution of the beverage program, develop seasonal cocktail menus, train and mentor bartenders, maintain quality and consistency, and support bar operations to ensure outstanding experience

CANDIDATE PROFILE

This is a full-time position requiring flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Experience:
  • Minimum of three (3) years of bartending experience, preferably in a luxury hotel or fine dining environment.
  • TIPS Certification preferred
KEY RESPONSIBILTIES

The primary responsibilities for the Lead Mixologist include, but are not limited to:

  • Assist with greeting guests, creating a good first impression for the guest experience.
  • Completion of all opening and closing side work.
  • Design, develop, and execute seasonal and specialty cocktail menus that align with the hotel's luxury brand.
  • Full knowledge and descriptions of all wines, liquors and beers in the restaurant, and be able to effectively make recommendations.
  • Ensure all cocktails are prepared consistently to established recipes and presentation standards.
  • Train, mentor, and coach bartenders on recipes, techniques, luxury service standards, and product knowledge.
  • Ability to make specialty cocktails and add inspiration to new menus.
  • Service of cocktails, wine and champagne in accordance with safe alcohol service standards.
  • Serve guests of the bar area efficiently, and with complete knowledge of food and beverage menus.
  • Monitor beverage quality, presentation, and consistency throughout each shift.
  • Receive Server orders, issue wines, mix drinks and keep proper control points.
  • Meet and exceed all guest requests and expectations with a professional attitude.
  • Ensure compliance with all safe alcohol service policies and applicable state and local regulations.
  • Ensure the bar is kept clean and in good order throughout the evening.
  • Adhering to the proper cash handling procedure including tip reporting, due backs, and bank.
  • Provide the highest service standards possible to all guests.
  • Complete all closing procedures.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS

In addition to performance of key responsibilities, this position may be required to possess a combination of the following skills and experiences:

  • Advanced knowledge of spirits, wines, beers, cocktail techniques, and beverage trends.
  • Must be able to speak, read, write and understand the primary language used in the workplace.
  • Requires good communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Must possess basic computational ability.
  • Must be able to lift to 30lbs + on a regular and continuous basis.
  • Must maintain an organized and pristine work area.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in the English language. A second language is desirable.
