Job summary

Intersect is seeking a Microgrid Validation Engineer to lead validation strategy, build HIL testing environments, and scale validation workflows for microgrid control systems. You’ll work with controls and power systems engineers, utilities, and partners to ensure safe, reliable performance before deployment.

The role emphasizes developing automated validation pipelines, verification metrics, and scalable lab infrastructures, enabling compliant and high-quality outcomes across projects.

Qualifications

• MS/PhD in Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• 3–7+ years of experience in real-time system HIL validation, power system model verification, or related validation disciplines.
• Experience designing, building, and operating laboratory environments used to validate electrical power systems.
• Demonstrated ability to develop automated test pipelines, validation frameworks, and verification metrics for real-time or embedded systems.
• Experience with real-time digital simulators such as RTDS, OPAL-RT, Typhoon HIL, or comparable platforms.

Responsibilities

• Own Validation Strategy and Architecture: develop testing capabilities across a full range of operating conditions, including failure modes and faults.
• Establish Verification Methodology and Standards: automate test execution, metrics, and documentation.
• Define Test Cases and Performance Criteria: partner with teams to define lab requirements and performance criteria.
• Integrate Field Learnings into Validation: analyze field data to improve models and regression suites.
• Mentor junior engineers and support technical development within the validation function.
