Job summary

Intersect, a Google subsidiary accelerating clean energy through microgrid solutions, seeks a Microgrid Validation Engineer to build and run validation frameworks for control software. You’ll craft simulation environments and HIL testing capabilities, verify performance, and ensure safety at scale.

You’ll collaborate with controls, power systems, utilities, and external partners, influencing validation across real-world scenarios and contributing to a robust, scalable infrastructure.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2–5+ years in real-time HIL validation, SIL testing or similar validation disciplines.
• Experience designing automated test pipelines and defining performance metrics for real-time/embedded systems.
• Hands-on with real-time simulators and validation platforms (SIL/HIL).
• Familiarity with Simulink/Modelica tooling for modeling and validation.
• Experience in commissioning/troubleshooting laboratory or utility-scale power systems.
• Proficient in C++, IEC 61131-3 ST, CODESYS, Lua, Rust or C for embedded control.
• Knowledge of modern software practices: version control, automated testing, validation workflows.
• Understanding of grid operations and ERCOT is a plus.
• Strong cross-functional collaboration and attention to safety and reliability.
• A proactive, curious, solution-oriented learner.

Responsibilities

• Build validation frameworks and automated test execution workflows for microgrid software.
• Define test cases and performance criteria with internal and external stakeholders.
• Analyze field learnings to improve simulation fidelity and edge-case coverage.
• Maintain validation assets, traceability, and test infrastructure including HIL environments.
