Job summary

Sub-Zero, Inc. in Goodyear, AZ, is seeking a Quality Engineer to develop and implement quality systems across product and process improvements. You will collaborate with engineering, production, and suppliers, performing precise metrology work and driving root-cause analysis.

The role requires 5+ years in quality/metrology, GD&T proficiency, and CMM programming. AAS or higher in engineering is preferred; on-site work with strong safety and accountability culture.

Qualifications

  • Associates or better in Engineering or related field.
  • 5+ years in quality, metrology, and manufacturing environment.
  • Excellent facilitation and communication skills.
  • Extensive knowledge of measurement techniques, metrology, and procedures including GD&T.
  • Knowledge and use of root cause analysis and quality improvement tools.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and GD&T requirements.
  • Proficiency with CMM programming and measurement reporting.
  • Competency with computers and software (MS Office, Agile, databases).

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement quality systems and changes for product/process improvement.
  • Collaborate with engineering, business units, and project teams to qualify products and resolve issues.
  • Perform measurements using CMMs, calipers, micrometers, and other tools.
  • Analyze data and present results to stakeholders.
  • Support internal and supplier PPAP and calibration processes.
  • Manage quality/metrology projects and maintain policies, procedures, and control plans.
  • Supervise quality/metrology technicians and processes.

The position will report to the Quality Manager under the Quality Engineering Department.

Responsibilities
  • Developsandimplementsquality systems and changes that promote product and process improvement
  • Works with business unit teams, engineering groups, and project teams to qualify internally manufactured products and solve problems
  • Performs measurements using CMM’s, calipers, micrometers, pin gages, height gages, optical comparator, and other traditional measurement tools and equipment
  • Analyzes information and measurement data to create, maintain, and effectively present results to stakeholders
  • Supports Internal Production Part Approval Process, Supplier Production Part Approval Process, and Calibration
  • Managesprojects related to quality systems and metrology
  • Develops and implementspolicies, procedures, work instructions, and control plans
  • Supervises quality/metrology technicians and quality processes

This position requires a pre-employment drug/alcohol test and background check, which will be administered after a conditional job offer is extended. Required Qualifications

Associates or better in Engineering or related field.

5 + years of experience working in quality, metrology, and a manufacturing environment

Excellent facilitation and communication skills

Extensive knowledge of measurement techniques; including metrology inspection methods, tools, and equipment

Understanding and interpretation of engineering drawings and GD&T requirements

Knowledge and use of root cause analysis and quality improvement tools: i.e., histograms, pareto charts, run charts, 5-whys, and cause & effect diagrams

Ability to provide clear direction in assigned projects and complete work in a timely manner

Knowledge and proficiency with CMM programming and ability to create standardized and custom measurement reports

Knowledge and proficiency working with computers and software, i.e., Microsoft Office, Agile, and other manufacturing/quality databases

Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge of quality processes, procedures, and Lean Six Sigma principles Experiments

Knowledge and experience using and programming Metrologic and Polyworks software

Experience with 3D CAD software

Experience in the manufacturing of plastic and sheet metal fabricated parts

American Society for Quality - Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or Certified Quality Auditor (CQA) or other applicable certifications
