Job summary

Workstream is seeking a skilled metal fabrication welder to run the metal side of the shop with minimal guidance. You’ll read specs, plan fabrication, and deliver clean welds while updating project managers throughout the process.

This role requires 3+ years of welding and fabrication experience, proficiency with MIG and TIG, and the ability to work from complex drawings under deadline pressure. A strong safety mindset and reliability are essential for success in this shop environment.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of hands-on welding and metal fabrication experience (architectural, structural, or industrial).
• Solid MIG and TIG skills; comfortable with steel, stainless, and aluminum.
• Can read blueprints, drawings, and welding symbols independently.
• Proven ability to manage your own workload and make decisions without being micromanaged.
• Clear communicator — comfortable talking directly with project managers about schedules and problems.
• Steady under deadline pressure, without cutting corners on quality or safety.

Responsibilities

• Fabricate and weld custom metal components — doors, gates, frames, brackets, and structural parts — from drawings and specs.
• Read blueprints and shop drawings and plan your own layout and sequencing.
• Coordinate directly with project managers on timelines, project changes, and priorities — you're the bridge between the office and the floor.
• Run MIG/TIG/stick welding as the job requires, on steel, stainless, and aluminum.
• Inspect your own and others' work for fit, finish, and weld quality before it leaves the shop.
• Help train and guide other shop team members on fabrication tasks.
• Keep projects moving without needing constant direction — flag problems early, solve what you can, escape what you can't.
