Job summary

SpaceX in Austin, TX is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer (MEP/Construction) to lead multi-discipline project teams from design through commissioning of large capital infrastructure. You will develop drawings and reports, manage contracts with subcontractors, and coordinate with utilities to ensure reliable power for critical site infrastructure, while meeting demanding schedules.

This role requires onsite work with travel potential and extended hours.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical or mechanical engineering or other engineering discipline.
• 5+ years of professional experience with the design or build of MEP building systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead the project team, consulting engineers and contractors throughout the MEP engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning process.
• Develop and issue drawings, design documentation, and reports for aerospace, industrial, and commercial type projects.
• Write, negotiate, and manage construction contracts with subcontractors across multiple disciplines through contract close-out.
• Resolve design and construction conflicts in the field in real-time.
• Coordinate with electrical utility provider for design/engineering to ensure reliable power service to critical site infrastructure.
• Interact with engineers, contractors, fabricators, and project stakeholders.
