Job summary

Southern Methodist University - Simmons School of Education and Human Development in Austin seeks a Supervisor for the Teacher Preparation Program. The role mentors teachers and coordinates clinical experiences in partnership with local schools.

Responsibilities include onboarding, orientations, ongoing monitoring, multiple formal observations, and tri-party conferences with the clinical and cooperating teachers, plus acting as liaison to the school district.

Qualifications

• 3 years teaching experience.
• Current Texas teaching certification and/or principal (mid-management) or superintendent certification.
• Accomplished educator (as shown by student learning).
• Experience mentoring teachers.
• Commitment for one academic year.
• Not required to be a current district employee.

Responsibilities

• Complete online new supervisor training and await information via email.
• Conduct an orientation for the cooperating teacher before the clinical teaching semester begins.
• Conduct a clinical teacher orientation by the first day of the semester, reviewing the Handbook.
• Monitor the clinical teacher's notebook during the semester.
• Observe, assess, and evaluate the clinical teacher (3 formal 45-minute observations per semester).
• Conduct mid-point and summative 3-way conferences with the clinical teacher and cooperating teacher.
• Act as liaison between the school district and the Teacher Preparation Program.
