Sacramento Behavioral Healthcare Hospital seeks a Lead Mental Health Technician (MHT IV) to oversee shift teams, support treatment planning, and ensure patient safety. You will supervise the MHWs, coordinate care across units, and participate in trainings to maintain high clinical standards.

The role reports to the Chief Nursing Officer and emphasizes de-escalation, therapeutic milieu, and thorough documentation in a fast-paced inpatient setting. Competitive pay and benefits are offered.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Behavioral science undergraduate degree required; advanced nursing degree considered.
• Current CPR certification.
• Verbal de-escalation and physical intervention training.
• 5+ years’ experience as behavioral health worker/technician in inpatient/psychiatric settings.
• Experience training, onboarding and coaching others.

Responsibilities

• Participate in treatment planning, identify problems and suggest plan modifications; input into discharge planning.
• Monitor patient progress and communicate with the treatment team; maintain patient contact.
• Co-facilitate didactic, educational, and community groups within the adolescent program.
• Supervise patients to ensure safety and involvement in treatment; provide input during shift report.
• Lead MHW team for the shift; coach peers and ensure documentation is complete.
• Assign shift tasks and assist with implementation of new processes.
• Maintain patient belongings and assist with discharge readiness.
• Complete orientation and competency assessments; pursue ongoing professional growth.
