Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required; Preferred: Certified Nursing Assistant; Degree from an accredited college or university in social work, recreational therapy, or appropriate therapeutic discipline highly desirable.
• Experience: Minimum one year of related experience, with knowledge of psychiatric patient care techniques and understanding of mental illness.
• Licensure: None
• Additional Requirements: Handle with Care Training, Service Excellence Training, and CPR certification required.

Responsibilities

• Precept new Mental Health Techs and train at least 10 new MHTs per year if available.
• Assist with training in HWC and Verbal de-escalation under supervision.
• Mentor MHTs to perform duties per policy and training.
• Observe, document changes in a patient’s appearance or behavior and progress toward treatment goals.

Position Summary

The Lead Mental Health Tech is responsible for planning and implementing activity services for assigned program, which involves defining and implementing treatment goals as a member of the treatment team and provide continuous patient care, observation, interaction, and role modeling to patients under the direction of the CNO & Milieu Manger . This position functions as an integral part in the training of mental health technicians.

Job Duties/Responsibilities

• Precept new Mental Health Techs and continue to train current MHTs at least 10 new mental health technicians a year if available.
• To assist with providing training in HWC and Verbal de-escalation under the supervision of the Hospital Educator (as applicable)
• Mentor MHT’s to perform all duties per policy, procedure, regulation and/or approved training.
• Utilize sound judgment during assessment and observe and document any changes in a patient’s appearance, behavior, or ability to work toward treatment plan goals.
