Job summary

UAB Medicine in Birmingham, AL, seeks a clinical laboratory professional to perform, interpret, and report results on routine and complex procedures across body tissues and fluids. You will evaluate new instruments, lead troubleshooting, and ensure reagent preparation and quality control.

The role may involve apheresis or bone marrow work and supervisory duties within a section as needed. Requirements include a Bachelor's degree in Clinical Laboratory, ASCP MLS or AMT MT certification, and 1

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Clinical Laboratory or a related field and one (1) year of related experience required.
Currently credentialed as a Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) by the ASCP OR currently certified as a Medical Technologist (MT) by the AMT required.
Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS) may be required or obtained within 30 days of employment.

Responsibilities

Perform, interpret, check accuracy and report results on routine and complex laboratory procedures on body tissues, fluids, and other substances.
Evaluate new instruments and/or methods, ensuring correct reagent preparation and quality control information, leading troubleshooting efforts.
Monitor performance of equipment maintenance and supervise within a section when requested.
May perform apheresis and/or bone marrows or coordinate education, computer operations, quality control/quality assurance duties.
