Job summary

Roxborough Memorial Hospital in Philadelphia is seeking an experienced Laboratory Supervisor to lead a team across hematology, chemistry, urinalysis, and microbiology. Qualifications

• ASCP certification preferred.
• Minimum five years of hospital laboratory work experience required.
• Bachelor’s degree in health science or Medical Laboratory Technology as required by CLIA.
• Current and valid state license if applicable.

Responsibilities

• Functions as the department Section Supervisor or Lead, responsible for supervising the daily operation of the section(s).
• Provides consultative services to the medical staff in the capacity of Technical Consultant.
• Oversees the section/department performance improvement program and participates in hospital interdisciplinary initiatives.
• Responsible for the technical and fiscal management of the section(s).
• Oversees the section(s) quality management/assURANCE program.
• Ensures compliance with all regulatory and accreditation requirements.
• Assesses staff competency and completes performance evaluations timely.
• Ensures the accuracy of patient results prior to release or reporting.
• Develops, maintains and updates section policy and procedure manuals.
• Reviews quality control performance and documents corrective actions.
• Identifies problems affecting test performance and notifies leadership accordingly.
• Performs a wide variety of laboratory procedures using manual and automated methods across multiple disciplines.

Education

Bachelor’s Degree in chemical, physical, biological health science or Medical Laboratory Technology

ASCP certification, or equivalent, preferred
