Job summary

The Lead Medical Technologist at Wexner Medical Center oversees the Central Processing Area, with a focus on the send-out section and Lab Customer Service to support timely and accurate patient care.

You will assist with workflows, billing-related processes, staff training, and coordination of services. The role includes orientation of new staff, development of training materials, and participation in staff evaluations under the lab leadership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in clinical or medical laboratory science or medical technology OR Associate degree in laboratory science or medical laboratory technology plus Bachelor's degree in chemical or biological science.
• 2 years of relevant experience required.
• ASCP certification required within 1 year of hire.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily Central Processing Area operations, with focus on send-out area and Lab Customer Service.
• Assist with operational workflows and billing-related processes.
• Coordinate services to support timely, accurate patient care.
• Orient and train new staff in assigned areas; may participate in Lab Customer Service candidate interviews.
• Develop and maintain learning materials, competency exams, and ongoing educational resources for staff.
• Provide training summaries, participate in staff evaluations, supervise staff, and maintain records.
• Work under the direction of division directors and lab manager.
