Responsibilities:

Under the direction of laboratory management, responsible for leading all aspects of operation in the assigned section/team/department, including:

• Preparation and maintenance of records, reports, policies, and procedures
• Analysis of testing methodologies
• Employee training and staffing
• Technical oversight and compliance

Works collaboratively with team members to ensure tasks, priorities, goals, and achievements are coordinated with management. Assists with test validations, regulatory compliance, quality control/assurance, and maintenance within the assigned area. Performs a variety of laboratory tests and procedures to assist physicians in diagnosing, monitoring, treating, and preventing disease.

Qualifications:

• Minimum Education Required: High School diploma or equivalent, plus sufficient college and/or technical courses and clinical training to qualify for testing and certification as a medical technologist by an approved certifying agency.
• Minimum Experience Required: Bachelor's Degree in clinical laboratory science, biomedical science, medical technology, or a related biological science (biology, biochemistry, microbiology, etc.) preferred.
• Minimum Licensure/Certification Required by Law: Three (3) years of hospital experience required.
• Additional Qualifications: Certification as a medical technologist or medical laboratory scientist by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP), AMT, or AAB, according to Georgia Department of Community Health regulations. AAB provisional certification is not accepted.
