This position is located within the Pathology and Laboratory Medicine Service at the VA North Texas Healthcare System in Dallas, TX. The position is responsible for collecting and processing specimens, including computerized accessioning, and delivery to the point of analysis or, if analysis is delayed, ensuring proper storage conditions to preserve specimen integrity.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, specimen collection, processing, and storage.

Qualifications:
English Language Proficiency Requirement: In accordance with 38 U.S.C. 7402(d), no person shall serve in direct patient care positions unless proficient in basic written and spoken English.
Selective Placement Factor: Experience performing phlebotomy/blood draws on human patients is essential.
At the GS-5 level, you must meet one of the following:
You will be rated on competencies including accountability, clerical skills, communication, computer skills, and specimen collection.
Additional Information:
Experience includes paid, unpaid, and volunteer work. All experience must include start/end dates and hours worked per week.
Physical Requirements: Work in a laboratory setting with physical activities such as walking, bending, standing, and lifting. Repetitive motion and eyestrain may occur when entering data into a computer.
