Job summary

TOPPAN Packaging Americas is seeking a leader to head the Design Engineering function for thermoformed medical packaging, reporting to the Vice President/General Manager. You will build and guide a high-performance team focused on product development, package design, tooling, and commercialization execution.

This onsite role in Huntley, IL drives speed-to-market, regulatory-conscious design, and cost-effective, customer-centric solutions for medical devices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Packaging Science, or Industrial Design.
• 5+ years of thermoforming or related plastics manufacturing experience.
• Experience in medical packaging design and development.
• Experience with thermoforming processes and tooling.
• Regulatory familiarity (ISO 13485, validation, cleanroom).
• CAD and design tools proficiency (SolidWorks).
• Customer-facing project management experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead the end-to-end design and development of thermoformed medical packaging solutions.
• Drive innovative packaging concepts while optimizing for manufacturability, cost, and performance.
• Oversee design execution using CAD tools such as SolidWorks.
• Provide expertise in concept development through 3D modeling, renderings, and prototyping.
• Ensure designs meet regulatory, sterilization, and material compatibility requirements.
• Manage tooling development and collaborate with suppliers.
• Lead project management for new product commercialization.
• Drive GPS in the design engineering area.
