Job summary

Grady Health System is seeking a Technical Specialist to lead the technologist team in the hospital's clinical laboratory. The role partners with the Section Manager to optimize workflows, staff development, quality initiatives, and administrative duties.

Required: Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or related field, ASCP or NCA certification, and 1+ year hospital lab experience (or 5+ years without a bachelor's).

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology or related field required.
• With Bachelor's Degree: at least one year of hospital clinical lab experience.
• Without Bachelor's Degree: five or more years of experience in the specialty area.
• Certification as MLS by ASCP or NCA required.

Responsibilities

• Monitors technical functions, quality control, and QA review.
• Prepares policies and procedures for subspecialty areas.
• Participates in hiring and staff development decisions.
• Schedules in-services and continuing education for staff.
• Prioritizes workload and assists at bench as needed.
• Instructs staff on procedures and new methods; evaluates staff.
• Troubleshoots instruments and initiates remedial actions.
• Monitors proficiency and competency testing.
• Acts as After-Hours Supervisor and assists department manager.
• Supports department goals and continuous quality improvement.
