Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Science or related field.
• MLS/HC/BB ASCP or AMT certification required.
• At least 1 year of experience as a Medical Laboratory Scientist.
• Strong organizational, problem solving, communication and computer skills.
• Ability to work independently and lead a team.
• Familiarity with laboratory safety standards and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Performing complex laboratory tests on patient specimens to aid in diagnosis and treatment.
• Demonstrates precision, analytical thinking, and strong laboratory science knowledge.
• Performs diagnostic testing on blood, tissue, and other bodily fluids.
• Operates and maintains laboratory equipment.
• Analyzes test results and reports findings to physicians and healthcare providers.
• Ensures quality control and compliance with safety protocols.
• Maintains accurate patient records and laboratory documentation.
• Collaborates with healthcare professionals to interpret results and support patient care.
• Oversees daily operations of the laboratory work unit with supervisor guidance.
• Monitors workflows, adjusts staff assignments, and reviews timecards when needed.
• Performs quality control reviews and reviews shifts/trends.
• Works with supply chain to manage inventory and lot numbers.
• Acts as lab area safety officer and subject matter expert on procedures.
• Provides training and competency assessments with Education Specialists.
