Job summary

Ardent Health Services is seeking a Lead Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS Lead) for a day shift, full-time role in Tyler, Texas. The MLS Lead will perform routine and specialized lab testing, ensure quality control, and support department leadership to deliver accurate patient results.

Requirements include a Baccalaureate or Associate degree in Medical Technology or related field, current knowledge of lab techniques, and ASCP or equivalent certification.

Qualifications

• Requires degree in Medical Technology/CLS or related science.
• Current knowledge of clinical laboratory techniques and principles.
• ASCP or equivalent certification must be maintained without lapse.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine and special laboratory procedures with accuracy.
• Conduct quality control, preventative maintenance, and inventory control.
• Participate in QA/PI activities, training, and proficiency testing as assigned.
• Lead shift or co-lead department as MLS Lead.

Responsibilities

• The Medical Lab Scientist Lead (MLS Lead) functions as a professional who assumes responsibility and accountability for the performance of clinical laboratory testing that pertains to patient care and diagnosis.
• This position performs routine and special laboratory procedures, quality control, preventative maintenance, minor equipment repairs, inventory control, and statistical compilation.
• Will additionally participate in the quality assurance and performance improvement tasks, new employee training and proficiency testing as assigned.
• The MLS Lead also functions as a professional who assumes responsibility and accountability for leading a shift or co-leading a department.

Qualifications

Job Requirements

• Baccalaureate Degree OR Associates Degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or a chemical, physical, or biological science.
• Current knowledge of clinical laboratory techniques and principles
• ASCP or equivalent
  • Certification within a specific area, i.e. M(ASCP), H(ASCP), C(ASCP) qualifies.
  • Certification must be maintained without lapse during employment.
    • If certification does lapse, job will be downgraded to Medical Laboratory Scientist (non-certified) until certification is reinstated.:
• Three (3) years of clinical laboratory experience as a Medical Technologist, Clinical Laboratory Scientist, Medical Laboratory Scientist, or Medical Lab Tech within a clinical laboratory.

Preferred Job Requirements

• Three (3) years of chemistry experience is preferred.
