Job summary

CornerstoneMD in Pasadena and River Oaks is seeking a Lead Medical Assistant to supervise the MA team across two clinics while remaining actively involved in patient care. You will set day-to-day standards, coach staff, and ensure coverage and training processes are in place.

The role requires 2+ years of leadership experience, CMA/RMA/CCMA certification in Texas, and 5+ years as an MA in outpatient settings. The position offers a full-time schedule with travel between locations.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of leadership or managerial experience in a clinical or administrative setting.
• Active Medical Assistant certification (CMA, RMA, or CCMA) in Texas.
• 5+ years of experience as an MA in outpatient or ambulatory care.
• Experience with EHR documentation; Athena experience strongly preferred.
• Comfortable adapting to different providers' workflows week to week.
• Reliable transportation for travel between Pasadena and River Oaks locations.

Responsibilities

• Directly supervise the MA team across both locations — coaching, giving feedback, handling performance conversations, and building a positive, supportive team culture.
• Develop and refine workflows and procedures to optimize clinical operations and MA performance.
• Own the weekly rotation and coverage plan across the provider teams resolving gaps and staffing assignments.
• Lead hiring, onboarding, and training for new MAs and contractors, ensuring consistent protocols and policies across locations.
• Manage time tracking, scheduling, and overtime compliance for the MA team, in partnership with practice leadership.
• Serve as the primary escalation point for clinical workflow and staffing issues, and the liaison between MAs and physicians.
• Provide hands-on patient care support — rooming, vitals, procedures, and documentation in Athena.
