Job summary

Mount Sinai seeks a Medical Assistant to provide comprehensive clinical and secretarial support in Otolaryngology. The role includes venipuncture, EKGs, patient flow management, and chart preparation for exams and procedures.

The successful candidate will have a Medical Assistant certificate, CMA preferred, at least 2 years of MA experience, and BCLS certification. Office-based healthcare environment with adherence to safety and infection control policies.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED with completion of Medical Assistant certificate course; CMA preferred.
• 2+ years of experience as a Medical Assistant.
• Certification: Medical Assistant certificate from an approved school.
• BCLS certification is required.
• In-house promotion to Level II contingent on annual performance appraisals.

Responsibilities

• Provides secretarial and clinical support to physicians and surgeons and performs administrative duties necessary to deliver quality patient care.
• Fulfills patient care responsibilities including venipuncture and/or EKGs and assists with patient flow and examinations.
• Enters orders into the EMR and prepares prescription refill requests for physician review.
• Manages medical charts, lab/x-ray reports, and other patient information within EMR or paper systems.
• Schedules surgeries/procedures and coordinates with Surgical Coordinator as needed.
• Maintains a safe, clean work environment and follows infection control policies.
