Job summary

The Mount Sinai Health System is seeking a Medical Assistant II to provide clinical office support to physicians and surgeons in a busy New York practice. You will perform patient care, assist with procedures, and mentor less experienced staff.

Responsibilities include venipuncture, EKGs, vital signs, and patient flow management, along with clerical duties and EMR documentation. The role requires MA certification, BCLS, and 2+ years of experience.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED with completion of Training Certificate from an approved Medical Assistant certificate course.
• Certified Medical Assistant is preferred.
• 2+ years of experience as a Medical Assistant.
• Promotion to Level II contingent upon consistent E or S annual performance appraisals for in-house candidates.
• Certification: Medical Assistant certificate from an approved school.

Responsibilities

• Performs venipuncture and/or EKGs, checks schedules and manages patient flow; assists patients with walking and exams, and collects specimens.
• Fulfills clerical responsibilities such as handling patient records, lab/x-ray reports, and referrals; manages charts using EMR or manual methods.
• Enters orders into EMR or prepares prescription refill requests for physician review and approval.
• Inventories, orders or restocks medical supplies and ensures proper sterilization of rooms and instruments.
• Maintains safe, compliant work environment and follows PPE and infection control policies.
