Job description

Summary:

Work with the Practice Manager and provide support in training Medical Assistant staff. Serve as a communication liaison between the manager, physicians, and medical assistance staff. Provide input and suggestions for improving patient flow, clinical policies, and procedures. Additionally, administer medication and work directly with other healthcare professionals at the site, as well as ancillary departments and services, to coordinate care. Utilize a defined skill set consistent with the basic educational program, certification, and relevant work experience to deliver direct care to patients in the outpatient clinical setting.

Qualifications

  • Education: Required: High school diploma or GED with completion of an accredited medical assisting program.
  • Experience: Preferred: 3-5 years of previous job-related experience.
  • Certifications: Required: BLS, Certified Medical Assistant, and must maintain active certification in both.

The Lead Medical Assistant, working under the direct supervision and licensure of the physician, is an integral member of the healthcare team. Responsibilities include coordinating all aspects of the medical visit, such as direct patient care, registration and scheduling, physician-patient communication, precertification, scanning, supervising staff, ordering medical supplies, and other administrative tasks.
