Atlas Copco Tools & Assembly Systems LLC in Auburn Hills, MI seeks a Mechanical Project Engineer to lead engineering projects from kickoff to customer acceptance. You will guide internal teams and partners on mechanical design, assembly support, and startup activities while ensuring on-time, on-budget delivery and adherence to quality standards.

The ideal candidate has a strong background in automated assembly systems, fastening applications, and a track record of transforming customer

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree (BSME) from an accredited four year college or university.
• 5 years of machine design experience or 10+ years in a fast paced design environment.
• Proven leadership skills in a fast-paced work environment.
• Project engineering experience is required.
• Proficient in SolidWorks and mechanical design tools.

Responsibilities

• Manage mechanical engineering schedules across the project lifecycle.
• Develop project objectives by reviewing proposals and requirements.
• Determine specifications from customer products and environments.
• Monitor budgets to meet cost targets.
• Coordinate external resources via RFQs and supplier cost control.
• Review designs for compliance with customer specs and standards.
• Update designs to reflect revisions and continuous improvement.
• Support builds, system integration, troubleshooting, and commissioning.
• Identify improvements for manufacturability and cost optimization.
• Contribute to departmental goals and engineering effectiveness.
