Job summary

Vitamix is seeking a Lead Mechanical Engineer in Product Engineering to drive development and implementation of engineered changes for new product development or sustaining engineering. Lead concept exploration, vet concepts analytically or empirically, and integrate solutions into manufacturing for launch readiness.

You will coach teammates and lead broader initiatives to improve design practices. The role requires 7+ years of related experience, a B.S.

Qualifications

• 7+ years related experience
• ABET-accredited engineering degree
• Master’s degree in engineering or related field preferred
• Expert in 3D CAD and PLM systems
• Experience with DFMA/DFR, FMEA, GD&T and reliability-focused design
• Proficient in design for manufacturing across molding, casting, machining, sheet metal
• Strong analytical, communication and leadership skills
• Ability to coach and mentor team members

Responsibilities

• Deliver on technical aspects of project designs meeting functional, performance and regulatory requirements
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support project execution
• Coordinate with domestic and international suppliers/contract manufacturers
• Utilize formal Technical Review processes for engineered changes
• Identify and manage technical risks per standards and policies
• Lead requirement generation from customer needs
• Lead analytical activities and testing for Verification and Validation
• Lead root cause analysis and implement corrective actions
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship
• Drive continuous improvement of design processes and methodologies
• Develop and grow technical competencies within the team
