Job summary

Leoforce in Cary, NC is seeking a Lead Mechanical Engineer to design and oversee complex HVAC systems, including air handling, chilled water, hot water, steam, and dehumidification. You will serve as Project Lead through feasibility studies, design reports, and engineering documentation.

You will mentor engineering teams, manage scope, budgets, staffing, and schedules, ensuring code compliance and design excellence on high‑impact pharmaceutical and biotech facilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university.
• 4+ years leading or supervising engineers and designers on multidisciplinary project teams.
• 10+ years of mechanical engineering and HVAC design experience within the building design industry.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD and Revit, including load calculation and energy analysis tools.
• Strong expertise in HVAC and utility generation systems, applicable building codes, and construction processes.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and implementation of complex mechanical HVAC systems, including air handling, chilled water, hot water, steam, condensate, dehumidification, controls, and utility systems.
• Serve as Project Lead through all project phases, including feasibility studies, building assessments, basis of design reports, and detailed engineering documentation.
• Manage project scope, budgets, staffing requirements, schedules, and technical deliverables in partnership with Project Managers.
• Oversee and mentor engineering and design teams, reviewing work products and ensuring quality, code compliance, and design excellence.
