Job summary

WR Systems is seeking a Lead Mechanical Engineer to design, develop, and document mechanical and electromechanical components for DoD programs in Norfolk, VA. The role requires an active Secret clearance, strong CAD skills, and leadership in developing fabrication drawings, BOMs, and installation diagrams.

The position emphasizes 3D modeling, system integration, and engineering change control across the product lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 6+ years of full-time mechanical engineering experience (design, test support).
• 3+ years supporting DoD systems design and development.
• CAD proficiency with AutoCAD and Autodesk Inventor.
• Experience with 3D modeling, drawings, and BOMs.

Responsibilities

• Independently research design proposals and feasibility.
• Develop drawings and documentation packages per standards.
• Create drawing packages: Level-3 drawings, BOMs, 3D models, installation drawings.
• Analyze specs to ensure manufacturability with current processes.
• Support system integration, testing, troubleshooting, and ECR activities.
