Job summary

Normal Computing in Mountain View seeks a founding mechanical engineer to define the physical design of our AI inference hardware, from accelerator to rack. You will translate system architecture into manufacturable hardware and partner with silicon, systems, and external design teams.

You will own the form factor, thermal envelope, airflow, and serviceability; manage drawings and BOMs; and drive build readiness with suppliers.

Qualifications

• 6+ years shipping accelerator or server hardware through production.
• Strong CAD skills and release ability for manufacturing partners.
• Hands-on thermal design for server hardware with first-principles reasoning.

Responsibilities

• Mechanical design ownership from prototype to production release.
• Define BOM and enclosure so all boards/components fit and are serviceable.
• Validate airflow and thermals with fully populated systems.
• Design rack and form-factor integration for standard and open-rack formats.
• Own drawings releases, manufacturability reviews, and supplier engagements.
• Coordinate safety and EMC with electrical team and test lab.
