The Impact You'll Make

At Danfoss Sensing Solutions, we develop advanced sensing technologies supporting applications across the Danfoss portfolio. As demand for data centre infrastructure, energy-efficient cooling, and environmental monitoring continues to grow, we are expanding our capabilities to develop the next generation of sensing solutions.

As our Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will strengthen our mechanical engineering expertise within R&D and play an important role in developing future sensing platforms, with a particular focus on gas sensing and data centre applications.

You will help transform new ideas into robust, manufacturable products by driving mechanical architecture and packaging development from early concepts through industrialization. You will also provide technical expertise across mechanical design, packaging, and manufacturability while working closely with colleagues across multiple engineering disciplines.

This is an individual contributor role without people management responsibilities. Instead, your impact will come through technical leadership, influencing engineering decisions, sharing best practices, and strengthening our mechanical engineering capabilities.

What You’ll Be Doing

You will lead mechanical development activities across innovation and new product development projects, ensuring solutions are technically robust, scalable, and aligned with customer needs.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Leading the mechanical architecture and design of next-generation sensing platforms, including housings, packaging, mounting concepts, and system integration.
  • Developing robust encapsulation, sealing, and environmental protection solutions for sensors operating under demanding industrial conditions
  • Driving mechanical work packages in innovation and product development projects in close collaboration with sensing specialists, electronics, firmware, manufacturing engineers, product management, and external partners.
  • Developing mechanical concepts for gas sensing and data centre applications, including thermal management, fluid interfaces, installation concepts, and system-level solutions.
  • Supporting prototyping, design reviews, risk assessments, testing activities, and supplier collaboration to enable successful industrialization.
What We're Looking For

You have a strong foundation in mechanical engineering combined with hands-on product development experience. You are comfortable taking ownership of complex mechanical challenges while collaborating across engineering disciplines.

To be successful in this role, we are looking for:

  • A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related engineering discipline.
  • Extensive experience developing industrial products from concept through production, including complex mechanical design challenges.
  • Hands-on experience with mechanical design of sensors, electronic products, or other highly integrated mechanical systems.
  • Strong experience with 3D CAD tools such as Inventor.
  • Experience with injection-moulded components and Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) principles.

It would be an advantage if you also have:

  • Experience with sensor technology and sensor packaging.
  • Knowledge within areas such as sealing and joining technologies, thermal management, tolerance analysis, rapid prototyping, or high-volume manufacturing.
What You'll Get from Us

You will join a highly skilled R&D environment working on technologies that contribute to safer, more energy-efficient, and more sustainable solutions across a broad range of applications.

1. We promote from within and support your learning with mentoring, training, and access to global opportunities.

2. You’ll have flexibility, autonomy, and support to do your best work while maintaining a healthy work-life balance. Your well-being matters to us.

3. We strive to create an inclusive work environment where people of all backgrounds are respected, and valued for who they are.

4. You’ll receive benefits like annual bonus, paid vacation, pension plans, personal insurance, and more. These vary by country and contract, but they’re worth asking about—we think they’re pretty great.
