Job summary

UKG is seeking a Lead Mechanical Design Engineer specializing in enclosure design for industrial and commercial electronics. You will be a senior member of the hardware team, leading the development of plastic injection molded enclosures, and ensuring functionality, aesthetics, and regulatory compliance.

You will collaborate with electrical, product, and manufacturing groups, supervise prototyping and testing, mentor junior engineers, and stay current with molding technologies.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in mechanical design for electronics enclosures (industrial/commercial).
• Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering; Masters preferred.
• Expertise in plastic injection molding processes and materials.
• Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks).
• Understanding of manufacturing processes and regulatory requirements for enclosures.

Responsibilities

• Participate as a core member of the mechanical design team for enclosures of industrial/commercial electronics products.
• Design and develop plastic injection molded enclosures, ensuring functionality, aesthetics and regulatory compliance.
• Collaborate with electrical engineers, product managers and manufacturing teams for seamless integration of components.
• Conduct feasibility studies, risk assessments and design reviews to ensure robust designs.
• Utilize CAD software to create 3D models and engineering drawings.
• Oversee prototyping, testing and validation of enclosure designs.
• Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineers.
• Stay updated with trends in mechanical design and injection molding technologies.
