Job summary

Align Production Systems in St. Louis, MO seeks a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer who leads complex, one-of-a-kind material handling systems from concept through fabrication and commissioning.

You will work closely with manufacturing, controls, and customers, mentor junior engineers, and own rigorous documentation. This role requires hands-on leadership on the shop floor and the ability to balance performance, cost, and schedule.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 6–8 years of hands-on engineering experience in Engineer-to-Order or custom-build environments.
• Strong proficiency in SolidWorks or comparable CAD platform.
• Deep familiarity with manufacturing processes, mechanical assemblies, and heavy industrial equipment.
• Proven ability to lead projects independently and make sound engineering decisions with incomplete information.

Responsibilities

• Lead engineering projects from initial concept through fabrication, testing, and field commissioning.
• Serve as the technical authority on complex, one-of-a-kind systems with competing constraints.
• Balance performance, cost, and schedule without sacrificing design integrity.
• Work directly alongside technicians and fabricators to ensure designs translate from drawing to build.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to building best practices across the engineering team.
