Job summary

RigUp, Inc. is seeking a Lead Mechanical Commissioning Technician to lead the mechanical field execution on active commissioning crews at geothermal facilities. You will perform hands-on work while directing technicians, ensuring work quality, and adherence to procedures.

You will coordinate with OEM representatives, manage safety, and document commissioning results, run-ins, alignments, tests, and data for acceptance criteria under the Asset Integrity Engineer guidance.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in mechanical commissioning, maintenance, or construction in industrial environments with at least 2 years in a lead/supervisory role.
• Experience commissioning rotating equipment: pumps, fans, compressors and drive systems.
• Hands-on shaft alignment experience using laser or dial indicator methods.
• Experience directing contract labor or mixed-workforce crews in field settings.
• Familiarity with hydrostatic and pneumatic pressure testing procedures.
• Ability to read mechanical drawings, P&IDs, datasheets and vendor manuals.
• Strong written and verbal communication; daily status reporting to the CxM.

Responsibilities

• Direct mechanical technicians, contract labor, and O&M personnel assigned to mechanical commissioning scope; assign tasks, set daily priorities, and verify work quality before sign-off.
• Perform hands-on mechanical commissioning work with the crew: pre-commissioning inspections, flushing and cleaning, alignment verification, pressure testing, and run-in.
• Coordinate OEM field service reps during equipment commissioning; maintain visibility of OEM scope and ensure procedures and acceptance requirements are met.
• Enforce procedure compliance and documentation practices across the mechanical crew; completed work is documented when finished.
• Lead shaft alignment activities using laser alignment or dial indicators; record pre- and post-alignment data.
• Direct equipment run-in: monitor temperatures, vibration, seal performance, and operating parameters; document results.
• Execute flushing/cleaning programs for piping systems and lubrication circuits; verify cleanliness before sign-off.
• Perform hydrostatic and pneumatic tests; verify test setup, hold periods, and document results.
• Assist Asset Integrity Engineer in condition monitoring data collection: vibration, oil samples, thermography as directed.
• Hold stop-work authority; enforce safety and LOTO/LOTOTO for all mechanical isolation on energized systems.
• Review and verify commissioning documentation: test records, alignment sheets, inspection check sheets, punch lists.
• Report daily status to the CxM: work completed, blockers, and schedule variances; escalate technical issues as needed.
