Job summary

Cordova Recreation & Park District is seeking a full-time Lead Mechanic to join the Cordova Golf Course team. The role requires hands-on maintenance of golf course equipment, supervision of staff, and preventive upkeep to minimize downtime.

Responsibilities include troubleshooting, engine and hydraulics repairs, parts inventory, and adherence to safety procedures on a range of vehicles and turf machinery.

Qualifications

• Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade and 3–5 years of full-time paid experience in golf course equipment maintenance.
• Hands-on mechanical experience with golf course maintenance equipment, utility vehicles, mowers, carts, tractors and turf machinery.
• Ability to lead, supervise, and train staff in a practical maintenance environment.
• Must possess a valid California Class C driver’s license and pass pre-employment checks.

Responsibilities

• Lead, plan, train, and review work of staff performing mechanic duties on golf course equipment.
• Oversee lubrication, oil changes, battery maintenance, reel adjustments, and routine servicing.
• Inspect and repair greens, fairway, and rough mowers, and related turf equipment.
• Repair engines, transmissions, hydraulics, reels, and other major systems.
• Maintain records, schedules, parts inventory, and shop safety practices.
