Cordova Recreation & Park District is seeking a full-time Lead Mechanic to join the Cordova Golf Course team. This position follows a 9/8/80 schedule with some weekends, holidays and evenings, and on-call as needed.
Under direction, the Lead Mechanic will supervise and perform repairs on golf course maintenance equipment, golf carts, mowers, and related machinery; manage parts inventory and preventive maintenance; and train staff to ensure safe, efficient operation.
Cordova Recreation & Park District (District) is seeking a full-time Lead Mechanic to join our Cordova Golf Course team.
This position works a 9/8/80 schedule (a two-workweek schedule of eight 9-hour days, one 8-hour day, and one day off) and some weekends, holidays, and evenings along with the ability to be on-call as needed.
Interviews will tentatively take place the week of November 2, 2026.
Under direction of assigned supervisory staff; leads, oversees, and participates in the more complex and difficult work of staff responsible for performing a variety of duties involved in performing minor and major repairs to and maintaining District vehicles, golf carts, mowers, and related gasoline, diesel and battery powered equipment; oversees the ordering of parts and inventory control; services and performs preventive maintenance duties on a variety of vehicles and equipment; maintains a variety of records; and performs a variety of technical tasks relative to assigned area of responsibility.
The Lead Mechanic is the second level classification within the Park Services Mechanic series. This classification leads and works alongside the staff responsible for performing a variety of mechanic duties within the Park Service division.

The following generally describes the knowledge and ability required to enter the job and/or be learned within a short period of time in order to successfully perform the assigned duties.
Education and Experience Guidelines – Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be: Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade and three to five years of full-time paid experience in golf course equipment maintenance and repair required. This work should include extensive hands‑on mechanical experience working on golf course maintenance equipment, utility vehicles, mowers, carts, tractors, and specialized turf machinery.
Possession of a valid Class C (basic, non-commercial) California driver's license is required. Must provide a current copy of a Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) driving record prior to appointment to job.
Applicant must be at least eighteen (18) years of age prior to appointment due to the hazards of the job, as defined by the Fair Labor Standards Act. Required to take and pass a pre-employment physical examination and drug screening. Department of Justice (DOJ) and Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) background checks.
