Job summary

Spring ISD Transportation seeks a Mechanic III to perform preventive maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on district fleet vehicles, including school buses, trailers, and generators. The role requires 4+ years of auto/heavy truck experience and a valid CDL with P and S endorsements.

Certifications such as ASE Master Technician are preferred. Strong adherence to safety and DOT requirements is essential, with ability to work irregular hours and drive when needed.

Qualifications

  • High School graduate or GED from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of four (4) years auto/heavy truck maintenance and repair experience.
  • Pass and maintain a Texas DPS school bus driver physical annually.
  • Obtain and maintain a CDL class A or B with P and S endorsements.
  • Maintain acceptable driving record annually.
  • Pass DOT drug and alcohol testing as required.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and repair engines, transmissions, powertrain, electrical, HVAC, brakes, and suspension.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and diagnostics on district fleet and school buses.
  • Supervise and train others in shop procedures and safety.
  • Respond to road calls and emergencies as needed.
  • Drive school buses in emergency situations if required.
