Seeking self-driven lead mechanic to efficiently manage our shop and supervise team members.
Description:
- The candidate may oversee the day-to-day operations of the repair shop for a landscaping business.
- The candidate should be proficient in the diagnosis and repair of mechanical issues pertaining to small engines, gas, and diesel-powered trucks, as well as skid steers and medium-sized tractors.
- The candidate should have good organizational and record-keeping skills as well as the ability to delegate work to and oversee the repairs performed by the other mechanics on staff.
Responsibilities:
- Observes mechanical devices in operation and diagnoses causes of trouble.
- Dismantles devices to gain access to and remove, replace, and/or adjust defective or malfunctioning parts.
- Examines parts to detect imperfection.
- Maintains and repairs automotive, mechanical, and electrical systems, and maintains and repairs electrical equipment.
- Initiates purchase orders for parts and machines.
- Responds to fleet breakdowns in the field as needed/requested.
- Coordinates major truck repairs and warranty work with vendors.
- Processes parts and maintenance invoices.
- Maintains a safe work environment by following proper safety protocol with all diagnosis and repair work.
- Provides necessary training to mechanic technicians on staff as needed.
- Ability to diagnose and repair wiring deficiencies in landscape equipment.
- Ability to operate specific equipment or tools.
- Knowledge of maintenance programs.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, parts diagrams, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Must have a valid Driver’s license.
- Must have strong organizational skills.
Physical Demands:
- While performing the duties of this job, the mechanic is regularly required to walk and/or stand for extended periods of time. See to perform assigned duties. Have dexterity of hands and fingers to operate various trade tools. Lift and/or carry up to 40 lbs. at waist/should height for short distances.
- Some of the work will be performed outdoors with exposure to the weather and elements.
Salary will be based on experience.
