Job summary

Slate is seeking a proactive Material Planning Supervisor, Crew B (Second Shift) to lead our automotive material planning team. This role ensures uninterrupted material flow to support production schedules while optimizing inventory levels and minimizing supply chain risks.

The ideal candidate has a strong background in automotive or high-volume manufacturing, excellent leadership, and deep understanding of planning systems and lean principles.

Qualifications

• 12+ years related experience with Bachelor's degree.
• Strong knowledge of MRP/ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, Plex) and inventory control.
• Proven leadership experience to coach and develop teams.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration.
• High proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP).

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of material planners and set performance goals.
• Coordinate daily planning meetings across production, procurement, and logistics.
• Develop strategic material planning processes aligned with business goals.
• Create and manage MRPs based on forecasts and orders.
• Ensure timely procurement to meet schedules without overstocking.
• Monitor supplier performance and resolve issues.
• Maintain optimal inventory levels and reduce waste.
• Utilize ERP/MRP systems and ensure BOM data accuracy.
• Generate KPIs like on-time delivery and inventory turns.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams for launches and changes.
• Lead lean initiatives and implement process improvements.
• Conduct root cause analysis for shortages and implement actions.
