Job summary

A.I.S., Inc. (AIS) is seeking a Lead Coordinator to manage the observer cadre in New England and support the completion of assigned sea days.

This full-time role involves on-call responsibilities, travel between ports, and leadership of a team of observers across the Northeast Coastal region. The position requires NMFS Fisheries Observer certification or eligibility, a biological science degree, and proficiency with MS Excel and Word.

Qualifications

• Must be able to work Monday-Friday including nights, some weekends, and some holidays.
• Must be able to lift 50 pounds and drag a 200lb carcass.
• Must have a valid driver’s license.
• Proficient with MS Excel and Word.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate observer trips across ports from NC to ME and manage coverage.
• Research fishing and landing effort; conduct captain interviews of at least 10% of observer trips.
• Supervise observers/monitors and coordinate trips between vessels and observers with safety, travel, deployments, and scheduling in mind.
• Arrange transportation from ports up to 25% travel and/or using company vehicle to transport observers and gear.
• Pre- and post-trip support: ensure data submission, document issues, and collect industry feedback.
• Maintain NEFOP certifications and complete trip trainer trips.
