The Lead Manufacturing Technician Pre-Assembly will serve as the technical and manufacturing expert providing guidance and assistance to employees engaged in mechanical assembly, disassembly, and installation tasks related to power transformers. The role includes training employees in work instructions, skills, procedures, methods, and techniques to ensure tasks are performed correctly and safely. The technician will also perform direct work demonstrating the ability to handle various operations within the department.
Essential Functions
- Perform all duties of a Senior Manufacturing Technician as needed.
- Assist in maintaining workflow, materials, and tools, and adjust schedules accordingly.
- Coordinate work teams and communicate effectively within the assigned area.
- Provide guidance and troubleshoot issues, assisting with problem resolution.
- Determine operation sequences where specifications are unclear.
- Assist with analyzing work problems and implementing corrective actions.
- Conduct on-the-job training, cross-training, and job rotation to enhance skills.
- Ensure quality standards are met through inspection and documentation.
- Interpret complex prints and work instructions.
- Handle materials safely and follow safety procedures.
- Follow standard work procedures to meet safety, quality, and productivity standards.
- Perform TPM and preventative maintenance on equipment.
- Practice 6S and adhere to safety guidelines.
- Operate material handling equipment safely.
- Follow company policies and promote a professional image.
- Understand and discuss company policies on quality, safety, and environment.
Additional duties may include developing training materials, supporting continuous improvement activities, and assisting in other manufacturing areas as needed.
Requirements
- Associate degree in a technical field or vocational certification plus five years’ manufacturing experience, or equivalent.
- Knowledge of manufacturing policies and practices for power transformers.
- Strong mechanical, troubleshooting, and reading drawings skills.
- Proficiency in math, geometry, and use of industrial tools.
- Safety knowledge and computer skills with MS Office.
- Interpersonal skills including communication and presentation skills.
Physical and Mental Requirements
- Ability to use tools and measurement devices safely.
- Work at heights, climb stairs, and inspect work.
- Follow instructions, judge work quality, and operate powered equipment.
- Work outdoors and indoors, standing and walking for extended periods.
- Lift up to 35 pounds frequently, 50 pounds occasionally.
- Perform repetitive movements and wear PPE.
